Artist Bio & StatementGoing into high school I was pretty lost on what classes to take, but I had always been interested in art. So my eighth grade year I decided to take an introductory course in ceramics. I had always been interested in art, and had taken many different art classes outside of school. I wanted to try all the different types of arts Monomoy had to offer. I took digital media classes, graphic design classes, portfolio classes and finished my senior year off with AP Art. My favorite materials to work with were acrylic paint and photography. This year I was a student photographer for our school's football team. I will be attending Clemson University this upcoming fall where I plan to major in Secondary Education in Mathematics, and I would like to photograph their football team as well.
Along with taking art courses I also have been a member of our school's chapter of the National Art Honor Society, and this year I was the Vice President. For the past two years I have been a member of the Art Club. I have also had some of my work displayed at the Cape Museum of Art, and Brooks Free LIbrary. I have participated in Project Hope for the past few years, and have also helped with the musicals and plays. Ms Donovan, Ms Waystack and Ms Schuermann have all played a large role in shaping me into the person I am today. They helped me use my art as an outlet. This year part of my curriculum I needed to come up with a question and investigate it. With my work I tried to accomplish the feeling of anxiety that others feel through my work. Each piece is unique to a certain person that struggles with anxiety in their own way. I try to accomplish the emotions others are feeling in my work. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Monomoy's visual and preforming arts program. They have helped me find myself and follow my heart to pursuing my love of photography. |
